The Grass Will Be Even Greener ~ Reese's Shower

There's nothing quite like a baby girl.

And Reese will be no exception!

Reese, who's Reese?

She's the future President, or rockstar teacher, or professional volleyball player, who is yet to be born.

Key word being yet.

Any day, this world will be forever changed by the 

spunky, life-lovin', lil' girl my brother and sis-n-law will have!

No doubt, she will steal their hearts {and ours}

In honor of this sweet munch, we threw the parents-to-be a coed baby shower

and had a stinkin' blast!  

When trying to come up with a baby shower theme, the thought that continued to resurface was 

fresh

hmmm... what's fresh?

Grass, yes, grass!

Thus the vision for Reese's Baby Shower was conceived ~

The grass will be even greener with Reese in our lives!

As guests arrived, they were greeted by the painted window, and watering can overflowing with wheat grass

{I use windows for all my parties and events~ they are easy to personalize, and offer a creative alternative to paper signs}

Being that it was a Backyard BBQ Baby Shower, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!

The food table was set up on my chalkboard painted table, flanked by two vintage doors on either side.

The theme of the day!

I strung Pom Yarn on the doors 

{served both as decor, and held the personalized tags made by guests}

Can you handle this yarn? I'm obsessed! 

I used this all over the shower, and it will be a staple for future events!

A wheat grass-filled tin served as the focal point of the table.

To offer height, I sat it on an upside-down crate.

Thought this lil' saying was cute!

A tag station was available for guests to share their favorite family traditions, prayer, advice, and words of encouragement for the parents-to-be.

The circles were cut from cardstock {nursery colors are gray, white, and coral} 

and nestled in sweet potato fry holders! Tiny clothespins hung the tags on the yarn-strung door.

Wishes for baby cozied in a coral mug, and were hung with the other personalized tags.

Japanese parasol fabric {found at JoAnn's Fabrics} was made into overlays for the gift and dessert table. The colors bring out the coral of Reese's room

If I can brag about one thing, it's my hubby's BBQ skills ~ the man can grill a mean tri-tip!

Lunch was a nod to our Central Coast days of Tri-Trip {grilled over apple wood chip and natural coals}, Marinated, barbecued chicken

Firestone salad {mixed greens, sweet peppers, tomatoes, feta cheese, and pine nuts}

Toasted bread {doused in butter and flavored with garlic salt}

Fruit skewers {lovingly made by some of Jen's sweet friends. Thanks Erica and Stace!}

Wish you could smell it right about now, huh?!

After lunch, Drew and Jen represented their gender with a friendly game of baby trivia.

Did you know the one body part a baby is born without, is their kneecaps? Yep!

The winners won first in line at the dessert table ~ a BIG deal at the Pogue household!

The Strawberry Shortcake Bar let each guest build their own dessert.

The menu ~ cubed pound cake, fresh strawberries, homemade whipped cream, and white and milk chocolate shavings! 

De-lish!

Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the dessert on the table, but you can thank me for not making your mouth water :)

As guests left, they took home a packet of flower seeds ~ 

 a reminder to pray for Drew, Jen, and Reese as their family, and the flower grows!

The next time you see this cute couple, they'll have a sweet munch in their arms!

And yes, 

The grass will definitely be greener with Reese in our lives!
